“Zvartnots” International Airport, the largest airport in Armenia is located not far from Zvartnots village, 10 km west of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. The airport has been operating since 1961. At that time, “Zvartnots International Airport” served only the aircrafts making flights in the air space of the former Soviet Union.

On December 17, 2001, an agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and an Argentinean company “Corporación América”. According to the agreement Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan became under the management of the “Armenia International Airports” Closed Joint-Stock Company for 30 year period. Since June 2002 the “Armenia International Airports” CJSC has started with the airport management.

Still in 1985 the International Civil Aviation Organization designated the airport a second class. Later, to meet international standards the airport was fully refurbished. New security, information and accounting systems were installed.

In 2008, in the new complex of 52,000 sq. m. were doubled Passenger registration desks and check-in points. A new underground parking lot was built. The new premise was launched in autumn, 2011.

How to get to “Zvartnots” airport from different parts of Yerevan

There is a bus route to Yerevan from the regions of the Republic of Armenia. And from Yerevan to “Zvartnots” Airport every 30 minutes there is a bus route from 07:00 to 22:00. The route starts from the bus stop near the "Youth" metro station. The bus makes stops at the “Katoghike” Church, in the Republic Square, at the stops in Amiryan Street, Mashtots Avenue, Central Bus Station, Argavand and Parakar villages, and the last stop is at “Zvartnots” airport. The bus fare is 300 AMD.

There are also minibuses from different parts of Yerevan to “Zvartnots” Airport. The route of the number 17 minibus starts near the “Armenal” plant, the route includes Adonts Street, Azatutyan and Komitas avenues, Kasyan street, “Barekamutyun” m s, Kievyan, Leningradyan, Sebastia streets, the Tsov. Isakov Avenue, Echmiadzin Highway, “Zvartnots” airport (last stop). The route of the number 18 minibus starts near Abovyan Park, includes Abovyan, Koryun, Nalbandyan, Khanjyan streets, Tigran Mets and Artsakh avenues, G. Nzhdeh Street, G. Nzhdeh Square, Bagratunyats, Tsov. Isakov avenues, Echmiadzin highway, “Zvartnots” airport (last stop).
