A completely new service is being introduced in Armenia, aimed at restoring and protecting the rights of both local and foreign passengers, particularly air passengers whose rights have been violated. In cases of flight delays, cancellations, or disruptions, passengers can turn to the Passenger.am online system, which allows them to take steps toward obtaining compensation from the violating airline.

The website will be available to passengers and the public in the coming days. This innovation already exists in a number of developed countries. According to EU legislation, any delayed or canceled flight is eligible for compensation, provided certain conditions are met.

"Passenger.am operates in directions regulated by EU law. Specifically, this applies to flights to EU member states or those operated by airlines registered in any EU country. The passenger’s ticket must include at least one European airport (in an EU member state) in order to claim compensation. The regulation allows for compensation ranging from 200 to 600 euros, depending on the distance between the point of origin and the final destination, and in some cases, the duration of the delay is also considered," says project author and founder Vaner Harutyunyan.

The idea of creating such a system by the Passenger.am team came from personal experience. The entire process is handled by the site’s team without charging passengers any upfront fees. The passenger must provide all relevant details related to their flight. They only need to keep all flight-related documents, including the boarding pass and payment receipt, as well as hotel and other documents containing the passenger’s reservation confirmation number. The complaint must include details such as the actual arrival time of the flight (not the departure/landing time), as well as photos of airport screens showing the flight delay.

The creators of this Armenian startup advise not to sign or accept any documents in such situations, as it may be a trap set by the airline. Simply apply to the system to best protect your rights.

Project author and co-founder Vaner Harutyunyan states that to claim compensation, the delay must be at least 3 hours, or the flight must be delayed/canceled.

"Furthermore, if the passenger hasn’t contacted the airline from the date of the delay, it’s not an issue," emphasizes co-founder Gurgen Ghazaryan, as the passenger has the right to apply for compensation from the unreliable airline within 2 years from that day.

There is no need for any payment to use the Passenger.am system. The passenger simply authorizes the legal team to act on their behalf, and everything is done fully online.

Passenger.am will help save time and nerves, avoid administrative procedures and negotiations with airlines, and find an effective solution to any problem.
